Flashlight Drills, Low light

Prerequisites:  BHHM 2 or equivalent (subject to instructor approval) and must be legally capable of attaining an Indiana ‘License to Carry Handgun Permit’1.

Goal:  Progress the student from Skill Level 2 to Skill Level 3-4.

Description: The Flashlight class will introduce the student to the common flashlight techniques and discuss the importance of having a tail-cap activated flashlight.  It will be approximately 30% lecture and 70% live fire.  The class will begin with a review of the 4-rules, mindset and a detailed examination of the flashlight techniques:

1.    Harris

2.    FBI

3.    Temple

4.    Syringe/Cigar

The students will be practicing these techniques in fun friendly environment, where the instructors will offer suggestions and corrections.  We will discuss various flashlight techniques and demonstrate each.

Performance Objectives:  Upon completion of the Flashlight class, the student will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the lecture materials by:

-       properly executing the 4-count presentation with movement

-       re-loading their handgun, quickly, with movement

-       satisfactory marksmanship at 5-10 yards, multiple shots

-       safely deploy a flashlight

-       use the flashlight in conjunction with the handgun to achieve effective hits

Keep in mind that this is only a 4 hour course and there is only so much that can be covered is such a short time.  The students are not expected to master these skills in the first class but, merely take away the proper mechanics so they can practice them correctly on their own.
